Halifax 1965 Leyland Titan Bus - BW008X
A monochrome photo of a period street scene in Halifax town center in 1974. A 1965 Metro Calderdale liveried Leyland Titan bus, Route: 60, Commons, pulls out of George Street on to Cow Green, heading towards Bull Green roundabout and King Cross Lane. The bus is fleet number 3285 and registration CJX 325C. A 1960's Willeme BMC Dropside Lorry can be seen behind the vintage concrete Stanton lamp post, and the multi-story car park and Pot-O-Four pub can be seen on the opposite side of the dual carriageway. The Ebenezer Methodist Church is in the far distance at the bottom of Pellon Lane, and Walker Singleton estate Agent is on the opposite side of the road. Lister court tower block looms over the entire scene, which hasn't changed much in the 40 years since this photograph was taken, other than the pseudo-victorian street lamps and railings that now adorn the central reservation, and a pedestrian crossing now resides at the location of the BMC Lorry.
